Howards Lane was the third to be planted of the sixty vineyards now established in the Southern Highlands ‘cool climate’ wine region. We are a small producer of premium quality wines offered for tasting in our rustic cellar door, which doubles as a function venue.

The property spreads below the northern slopes of the Gibbergunya bushland between Mittagong with Bowral. Sweeping panoramic views from the Cellar Door deck encompass pastures, the bush and the rolling hills of High Range across the valley.

The enhanced flavours of our ‘cool climate’ wines result from the long, slow ripening of the fruit. This, together with reduced crop levels and minimal irrigation results in small berries and a high ratio of skin to juice which enhances the flavours of our premium wines. Vines are pruned by hand and grapes are selectively hand-harvested allowing for only the finest of the crop to be used for wine-making. Each bottle of wine is individually numbered with no more than 2000 produced in any vintage. Rare wine indeed! Personal labels may be ordered for special occasions.

There were 3.5 acres under vine in the original vineyard. This acreage has since been doubled so that wines produced now include chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, rosé, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and shiraz. 2006 saw the launch of the region’s first white port by Howards Lane, after botrytis affected the first chardonnay to be picked in the new vineyard.
